Job Description
:
The Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) is a professional caregiver who is responsible and accountable for providing quality patient care within a delivery model in accordance with the organizational philosophy, policies and standards of care of the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, the College of Nurses (CNO), and all relevant legislation.
Education:
Registered Practical Nursing Diploma or equivalent education to practice at full scope Completion of recognized Medication Administration Course Current Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario Current BCLS Operating room course, essential CSAO course an asset Two (2) years clinical experience in active general OR
Experience:
Sound knowledge of nursing process and responsibilities of profession Membership in professional association specific to nursing service area Functions independently within scope of practice
Competencies:
Sound problem solving, communications (oral and written), conflict resolution and decision making skills Excellent organizational skills Computer literacy in current software applications Demonstrated commitment to the professional growth and development of self and others Demonstrated commitment to the concepts of Continuous Quality Improvement and Customer Service
Other:
* Ability to learn about, from and with other members of the patient care team to foster a strong interprofessional model of care
