MSSU is a 15 bed inpatient unit that cares for patients who have a variety of acute and complex medical patients. The team consists of physicians, registered nurses, registered practical nurses, patient care assistants, dietitians, pharmacists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, discharge planners, social worker, a respiratory therapist, a speech language pathologist, spiritual care, patient service clerks, and volunteers. Each member has a specific role to play to ensure seamless integration of care and together, they strive to provide exceptional care to each patient and family.


As a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN), you are a dedicated and accountable healthcare professional responsible for delivering high-quality patient care. Your practice aligns with the organizational philosophy, policies, and standards of care at RVH, as well as the regulatory framework set by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) and applicable legislation.


In this role, you will provide care to patients within the Medical Short Stay Inpatient Unit. You will assess, plan, coordinate, and manage patient and family care in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team. Care delivery will follow established hospital and departmental policies and procedures to ensure safe, effective, and compassionate care.




As a qualified candidate you will have the following job requirements:



Registered Practical Nursing Diploma or equivalent education to practice at full scope Completion of recognized Medication Administration Course Current Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario Current BCLS Sound knowledge of nursing process and responsibilities of profession Membership in professional association specific to nursing service area Functions independently within scope of practice Computer literacy in current software applications
