About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Technology-Enabled Practice, the ADC Implementation Support RPhT will work with the Technology Enabled Practice team, the Pharmacy Information Systems team, local pharmacy teams, and the ADC vendors to support the safe and effective implementation of the Pyxis ES\xc2\xae system, inclusive of Anesthesia Systems (PAS), and controlled drug safes (CII Safe\xc2\xae).

The focus of the role is the overall safe and effective use by nursing and pharmacy. The role is also the main point of contact for both nursing and pharmacy and are responsible for answering questions and trouble-shooting problems and issues concerning the Pyxis system. In collaboration with the Pyxis Application Specialists and engineers and the Pharmacy Information Systems team, they are responsible for the processing of new equipment installations, implementing software and hardware upgrades and addressing technical concerns. The Pyxis Implementation Support RPhT is highly trained to provide safe and effective quality pharmaceutical service throughout Nova Scotia Health in accordance with policy and procedures and is competent in solving hardware and software issues related to the Automated Dispensing system.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Graduate of an accredited Pharmacy Technician Program
  • Licensure and registration in Nova Scotia as a Pharmacy Technician (NSCP) required - If there are no candidates who meet the above qualification, candidates actively pursuing Pharmacy Technician licensure within the Province of Nova scotia will be considered
  • BLS Certification required
  • Experience in unit dose drug distribution systems, automation technology, decentralized medication dispensing cabinets, is necessary
  • Knowledge of Pharmacy automation technology (such as Pyxis\xc2\xae) is essential
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, inventory control and record keeping
  • Knowledge of the law and regulations pertaining to the receipt, storage and distribution of prescription and narcotic drugs
  • Basic typing skills or computer/keyboard experience; skills in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with providing education sessions and presentations an asset
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours
  • Long-assignment, Full-time Position; 75 Hours Bi-weekly
  • Approximately 14 months (assignment length subject to change)
  • Position is flexible within the zone
  • Travel to other sites or throughout the province is required
Compensation and Incentives

$24.96 - $27.89 Hourly
