Job Title - Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPhT)

Mandatory Requirements

Graduate from a Pharmacy Technician program accredited by the Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs (CCAPP). Licensed and registered member in good standing as a Pharmacy Technician with the Ontario College of Pharmacists.

Skills & Certifications

Knowledge of general pharmacy department functions, operations, and responsibilities. Annual mandatory certifications in CPR and WHMIS.

Key Requirements & Deliverables

Prepare and dispense pharmaceutical medications accurately and safely. Demonstrate knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology, pharmacy operations, and relevant legal and regulatory requirements. Proficiency in computer skills, including keyboarding, pharmacy software, and basic office programs. Provide technical and clerical support to pharmacists and pharmacy assistants. Apply training and experience in inventory control, shipping, and receiving. Ensure proper inventory management, maintaining appropriate levels and turnover. Operate effectively within a remote pharmacist model, including identifying the drug, dose, and amount to be dispensed prior to verification. Manage purchasing, receiving, and distribution of pharmaceuticals and mail in compliance with policies, procedures, and applicable regulations. Perform accounting procedures related to pharmacy operations. Adhere to infection control practices, including cleaning, hand hygiene, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Travel to remote sites (as required) to inspect pharmacy and medication rooms managed by nursing staff, ensuring compliance with standards of practice. Prepare audit reports for Delegation of Dispensing for pharmacy assistants. Conduct narcotic and controlled drug inventory management, audits, and counts. Perform narcotic destruction in collaboration with a pharmacist. * Strong communication skills in English; ability to communicate in the local Cree language is considered an asset.
