Program Description: Community Mental Health Program
Community mental health services provide support in non-hospital settings, including clients' homes, shelters, and community residences. This program enables individuals to receive specialized services while supporting community providers with education and consultation. The program operates through eight specialized teams based out of Carling wood Shopping Centre in Ottawa.
Qualifications
Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
Up to 3 months Nursing Experience
Knowledge of mental health/addiction issues
Clear understanding of MHA and relevant legislation
Able to demonstrate knowledge and skill in psychiatric nursing practice as articulated in the Canadian Standards of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing Practice.
Knowledge of mental health/addiction issues with specific knowledge about physical/medical compilations related to mental health and addictions
Able to meet the standards of nursing practice of the College of Nurses
CPR certification within the last 12 months (BCLS at a minimum)
Evidence of continuing professional education
Effective verbal and written communications skills
Effective interpersonal and teamwork skills
Problem solving, leadership and management skills in responding to complex and rapidly changing situations
Sensitivity, skills and experience working with diverse individuals and communities
Access to a reliable vehicle and a valid G license
English level A- is mandatory in oral expression, oral comprehension, reading comprehension and written expression. Bilingual (French/English) is considered an asset.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing
Knowledge and experience with dual diagnosis
Experience in Mental Health and/or addictions
Membership and active participation in a professional nursing organization (RNAO)
Experience working with homeless individuals or those at risk of homelessness
Experience working in the community and knowledge of community resources
Concurrent Disorder Training
Salary Range:
39.07 to 56.00 per hour
