Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) role models clinical excellence and the core competencies of the practice standards of the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO), as well as the policies and procedures of Southlake Regional Health Centre (Southlake). The RN works collaboratively as a member of the health care team. The RN provides direct patient care to patients based on the three-factor framework as outlined in the College of Nurses of Ontario standard, RN and RPN Practice: The Client, Nurse and the Environment. These three factors have an impact on decision making related to care-provider assignment as well as the need for consultation and collaboration among care providers. All nurses make a commitment to lifelong learning.
The successful candidate will be motivated, self-directed and a key member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team with defined roles focused on quality patient care and patient flow. The successful candidate will be responsible to provide excellent care to a diverse acute medical patient population in a fast-paced setting.
Qualifications
Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) as a Registered Nurse
Minimum 3 years recent experience in a community mental health setting and / or inpatient mental health setting working with clients who require careful monitoring and evaluation of the effects of psychotropic medications and working with community resources
Current clinical skills and experience to assess, plan, develop, co-ordinate and provide treatment, rehabilitation and support services to program clients with severe and persistent mental and physical illnesses under the clinical supervision of the Manager leader and the PACTT psychiatrist
A clear understanding of the characteristics and problems of adults with severe and persistent mental illnesses and be knowledgeable about the ACTT/PACTT model.
Understanding of working with people with addictions
Experience and belief in the value of working in and committing to a fully integrated multidisciplinary team and interdisciplinary model, including clinical guidance and peer support
A good working knowledge of the Mental Health Act
Demonstrated excellence in clinical practice and is academically prepared and experienced in the area of Mental Health
Demonstrated commitment to professional development
Proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Word 95, Power Point
Must possess own car, a current Ontario Driver's Licence and a clean driving record
Excellent physical assessment skills

Primary Responsibilities
Provides patient and family focused care within the RN scope of practice, based on the three factor framework of the College of Nurses of Ontario
