Your Opportunity:

As a member of the Neurosciences Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Team, the Registered Nurse (RN) provides safe and effective nursing care according to hospital policies and nursing care standards. Job duties include working between the High-Intensity Unit, the Stroke Observation Unit and the Neurosciences Intensive Care Unit. Working within the full scope of practice, the Registered Nurse observes, monitors, reports and documents changes in the patient's physical, mental and emotional state, assists the patients with activities of daily living and provides the patients and family with relevant information and teaching. The successful candidate will work as part of the multidisciplinary team collaborating for positive patient outcomes and providing quality care.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum 2 years of critical care experience. The candidate must have the physical capability of the role, including the ability to lift up to and including 50 lbs. Leadership and critical thinking skills, demonstrated by the ability to direct other healthcare workers, problem solve and escalate clinical concerns in a timely and appropriate manner. The position requires strong communication and organizational skills, and one must be committed to patient and family-centred care. Demonstrated ability to maintain collaborative working relationships with patients, families and team members. The course will be offered. If successful, then job duties will include the Neurosciences Intensive Care Unit, High-Intensity Unit and Stroke Observation Unit. Preferred Qualifications:

Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred; however, skills and experience relevant to nursing practice in the community sector will be considered. Successful completion of the Alberta Health Services Critical Care Challenge Exam or successful completion of a Critical Care Course recognized by Alberta Health Services within the last 12 months.
