Unit 36 is a Medical Teaching Unit with 38 beds whose focus is on care & coordination for acute medical patients and their multi-system complexities. The MTU is a fast paced, ever-changing environment with a strong emphasis on continued learning, interdisciplinary collaboration and teamwork. The registered nurses of Unit 36 are known for their thoroughness and advanced skill set in providing a high standard of care for some of the most acute patients in the Foothills Medical Centre. Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:

Proven ability to function in an acute medical nursing environment within the last 6-12 months Ability to learn new skills and adapt to changing technology Effective interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team. Critical thinking and problem-solving solutions. Ability to contribute as a team member, learn within a dynamic environment and adapt/cope with change. Demonstrated excellent time management and organization skills. Ability to manage the job classification of "heavy physical demand" level as per the AHS Job Demands Summary. Preferred Qualifications:

Proficiency with Connect Care and clinical documentation standards. Willingness to participate in the research initiatives of Ward of the 21st Century. Candidates with previous experience on Unit 36 or a unit of comparable acuity/patient population are strongly preferred. Previous night shift experience preferred.
