Located at the heart of downtown Toronto, Toronto Western Hospital has provided community care and specialized services for more than 100 years. Our hospital provides world-class care in Neuroscience, Musculoskeletal Health and Arthritis and Community and Population Health programs. Complementing these programs are outstanding facilities, including the Krembil Neuroscience Centre.

3B Fell is a combined General Internal Medicine (GIM) and Cardiology unit that specializes in continuous cardiac monitoring (telemetry) with a 4-bed Cardiac Acute Care Unit for those patients requiring higher acuity care.

The GIM Program at TWH focuses on best practice in acute medical and senior friendly care. GIM is composed of four units across TWH. The interprofessional team meets daily to discuss and update each patient\'s plan to ensure a seamless journey.

3B Fell is also a part of the Peter Munk Cardiac Program. The interprofessional team provides exemplary care to patients with acute cardiac conditions. This unit has the ability to provide continuous cardiac monitoring for patients admitted to the following services: Cardiology, General Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Rheumatology and Orthopedics at TWH.

As a member of the UHN and the Nursing Multi-disciplinary Team, the REGISTERED NURSE practices in accordance with relevant legislation/standards, meeting the legal and ethical requirements of the profession.

Duties

• Applying knowledge of nursing science, theory, skill and critical decision making in the provision of compassionate, collaborative and competent care in accordance with the UHN Professional Practice Model for Nursing and the mission and vision of nursing at the UHN
• Ensuring practice is consistent with professional standards and the ethical framework as outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario and the UHN policy and procedure
• Demonstrating commitment to professional life long learning by participating in continuing education activities to meet the needs of the patient population served and the standards of the profession.

Qualifications

• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) Certification
• Coronary care #1 and #2 an asset
• Cardiology experience
• Experience with cardiac monitoring and arrhythmia identification and interpretation
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and decision-making skills
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Must be flexible and possess the ability to work effectively within a variety of patient care teams
• Demonstrated evidence of ongoing education in cardiac nursing
• B.Sc.N. preferred
• Strong Medical Nursing background preferred
• Membership in the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario preferred
