Assumes the primary responsibility and accountability for the delivery and management of quality nursing care to residents in accordance with the philosophy and mission of the Dr. V. A. Snow Centre. The RN/Nurse Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the South and North wings and ensuring that all staff members are performing their duties in an efficient and effective manner on all shifts.
Provide comprehensive medical care, ensure resident safety and well-being, and coordinate overall healthcare services.
To actively participate in the administration, supervision, planning, organizing and directing of the nursing service working in close association with the Director of Care, Physicians and other members of the health care team.
Practices nursing within the full scope of practice as defined in the Nurses Act of New Brunswick.
Works cooperatively and collaborates with the nursing personnel and other members of the interdisciplinary team in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice and safety of staff and residents.
Functions as a key member of the interdisciplinary team in a leadership role providing direction and supervision.
To accept designated responsibility for the Nursing Home in the absence of the Director of Care and Administrator and/or during the evening and night shift.
Qualifications:
Graduate from approved Bachelor or Nursing Program and current active registration with the Nurses Association of New Brunswick.
Experience in geriatric nursing is desirable but not essential.
Physically able to perform assigned duties.
Good previous work and attendance record.
Current training in CPR. Venipuncture is an asset.
Neat and clean in appearance.
Must be available to work all shifts including day, evening and night shifts based on operational needs of the home.
Must demonstrate excellent clinical, supervisory, leadership, teaching and mentoring skills.
Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills including written and verbal communication.
Must demonstrate ability to plan, set priorities, organize, and manage nursing services.
Demonstrate leadership ability with comprehensive knowledge of nursing and health care practices and techniques as they relate to long term care.
Must demonstrate ability to deal with conflict and crisis in a calm, professional, mature manner.
Must demonstrate a flexible and adaptive attitude conducive to the development of staff and residents as a team, and to dealing with families and the public.
Must demonstrate a commitment to the philosophy of the Dr. V. A. Snow Centre and a desire to use and develop leadership and teaching skills.
Ability to act as a role model in creating a collaborative and harmonious working atmosphere.
Must work well within a team and delegate tasks.
Ability to promote a safe, holistic care environment and to make decisions under pressure.
Wage as per NBNU collective Agreement.
