Position Summary

Reporting to the Clinical Manager, Emergency Services, the successful applicant will be working in triage to support the Emergency Department during the next phase of redevelopment. This is a 6 month temporary full-time opportunity with a continental schedule 0900-2100hrs to support peak triage times.

Primary Responsibilities

Triuage standard of work Support main department ambulance triage Support acute walk-in patients that require triage in main department Support pateint flow of triaged patients from new triage space to assigned zone

Mandatory Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited college university nursing program Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario Emergency department nursing experience Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification Current Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation Certification (within 6 months of employment) Triage Certification (eCTAS) mandatory

Demonstrated ability to work within a Total Patient Care Delivery system in which regulated health care professionals practice to their full scope adhering to the practice standards as defined by the College of Nurses of Ontario Proven critical thinking skills, creative problem solver with a solution focus and patient centered approach Demonstrated ability to communicate and use effective interpersonal skills with colleagues and other members of the BCHS and external partners Ability to multi task and set priorities in a high intensity and rapidly changing environment Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with a team focus Creative problem solver with a solution focus and patient friendly approach Demonstrates commitment to exceptional customer service with patients, families, staff, colleagues and community partners Ability to establish positive and proactive work relationships with external partners Demonstrated excellence in patient assessment and care planning Mature, reliable individual with excellent attendance record and able to work all shifts Safety (patient, worker & workplace) is a BCHS Corporate Priority. The successful applicant will demonstrate good stewardship in the identification, reporting and mitigation of unsafe acts or conditions.
