Safe Umbrella Healthcare is seeking experienced and compassionate
Registered Nurses specializing in Emergency Care
for placements across hospitals and urgent care centers. The ER Nurse will provide rapid assessment, stabilization, and high-quality care to patients experiencing acute illnesses or injuries in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct rapid patient assessments, triage according to acuity, and initiate appropriate interventions.
Provide emergency nursing care to patients with trauma, cardiac events, respiratory issues, psychiatric emergencies, and other urgent conditions.
Administer medications, IV fluids, and treatments in accordance with physician orders and facility protocols.
Operate emergency and diagnostic equipment (e.g., cardiac monitors, defibrillators, EKG machines).
Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated care.
Perform continuous monitoring and reassessment of patients throughout their ER stay.
Document nursing assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes accurately and promptly.
Assist with resuscitation procedures, code blue responses, and emergency stabilization.
Provide emotional support, education, and communication to patients and families.
Follow infection control, patient safety, and emergency response protocols.
Participate in handovers, briefings, and care planning with the healthcare team.
Qualifications
Current registration as a
Registered Nurse (RN)
with the applicable provincial regulatory body (BC, ON, NS, etc.).
Minimum
1-2 years of recent Emergency Department experience
preferred.
Current
BLS
and
ACLS
certification (PALS and TNCC an asset).
Strong assessment, critical thinking, and rapid decision-making skills.
Ability to remain calm and effective in high-stress, fast-paced environments.
Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
Additional Requirements
Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical ability to lift, move patients, and stand for long periods.
Compliance with immunization, onboarding, and background requirements.
Willingness to travel for temporary assignments (if applicable).
