POSITION SUMMARY





In keeping with the mission statement of the hospital and the patient service unit, the nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care for individual patients/families.


Effectively uses the nursing process Practices according to the standards set by the College of Nurses of Ontario, the Hospital, and the patient service unit Shares knowledge with patients and families in order to promote or maintain wellness, and to achieve an optimal quality of life. Is accountable for maintaining competence while developing the quality of his/her professional nursing practice

QUALIFICATIONS




Vulnerable Sector Check (Essential) Current Certification of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (Essential) Current CPR Certification (Essential) Minimum 2 years Emergency Department Experience, along with the demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position, may be considered in lieu of stated education and experience (Essential) Current PALS certification or successful completion of PALS certification within 12 months (Essential) Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills (Essential) Demonstrated culturally sensitive approach to nursing care (Essential) Demonstrated strong family centered care skills (Essential) Minimum 2 years pediatric Emergency experience (Preferred) Experience with pediatric triage (Preferred) Bilingual (English/ French) (Preferred) Baccalaureate Degree of Nursing (Preferred)

Effective March 29, 2021, CHEO will conduct a more comprehensive pre-screening and evaluation process. This process may include more varied and multidimensional testing such as a written test, practical exam, or other assessment. All candidates who meet the essential and preferred qualifications may be tested.




Bilingualism (French/English) will be validated by a language proficiency assessment conducted by a third party provider. Candidates will be required to meet the minimum linguistic profile prior to the date of hire.
