POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of a Radiologist, performs a variety of MRI procedures at a technical level, not requiring constant supervision of quality. Responsible to maintain competency and follows standards as outlined by the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO).
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED:
Current registration with the College of Medical Radiation Technologists of Ontario required
Membership in the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists and the Ontario Association of Medical Radiation Technologists is preferred
Current MRI experience (within last 12 months) required
CAMRT certificate in MRI is required
IV contrast injection certification is preferred
Must be able to work various shifts, weekends and take call on a rotation basis
CPR Certified (Basic Rescuer (C) preferred
Excellent attendance record and punctuality required
Documentation of continuing education
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Good problem-solving skills
To produce maximum image quality, adapting technical factors and accessories, considering patient condition, exam required and history to acquire these images.
Good working knowledge of MRI principles for application
To be knowledgeable on how to properly utilize equipment, how to troubleshoot during equipment downtime to either the supervisor or department staff.
Maintain accurate computer and image records including all required patient history and exam information.
Perform daily and weekly maintenance and necessary quality control on equipment, according to established protocols and document results.
Maintain quality control procedures for all work performed.
To be familiar with the operation of suction and oxygen and emergency shutdown equipment and to know the location of emergency equipment within the department. All staff are responsible to be aware of emergency procedures outlined in the Policy and Procedures Manual.
Must have knowledge of normal anatomy and variants and performs additional images, as required.
Assist physicians with special procedures using specialized techniques.
Participate in continued development of protocols.
Contribute to all MRI educational initiatives and student training.
Maintain a current level of knowledge regarding MRI safety in a 1.5T and 3T environment.
All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
