Physiotherapy Assistant & Rehab/Fitness Coach



Part-time with potential for increased hours

Registered Kinesiologist, Certified Athletic Therapist, Sport & Exercise Science degree, or similar

Tasks & Responsibilities:

Assist supervising physiotherapist(s) with carrying out treatment plans for clients with various musculoskeletal injuries and conditions Charting, communicating with physiotherapist(s), and taking initiative on general tasks needing to be done within the clinic space Leading rehab exercise programs in the clinic or in the gym space Work with patients who are in late-stage rehab and/or return-to-sport phases of rehab in the gym to prepare them for their sport in collaboration with and under delegation of their physiotherapist (i.e. sport-specific strength & conditioning) Develop and lead group rehab classes (e.g. post-operative joint replacement, low back pain programs, etc.) Develop and lead group fitness classes (e.g. senior exercise classes, HITT, functional strength)
Skills:

Strong foundation in injury management & rehab principles from an exercise and movement perspective Ability to work one-on-one with patients recovering from injury, under physiotherapy delegation, on interpreting and carrying out treatment plans, charting appropriately, and contributing positively to the rehab team Ability to effectively demonstrate a wide range of functional and rehab exercises, cue a patient or client for proper form and engagement, as well as recognize appropriate regressions or progressions for optimal outcomes Ability to work with athletes in late-stage/return-to-play phases of their recovery with sport-specific strength and conditioning programming, demonstrating and leading a rehab/workout session, and providing recovery strategies (e.g. stretching, mobility work, etc.) Strength and conditioning knowledge (or certification) an asset. Must have a passion for fitness and practice what you preach, so that you are able to demonstrate movements. Experience in group instruction is an asset (e.g. fitness classes, group rehab, etc.) Ability to design and implement fitness-style classes is an asset Excellent verbal and written communication skills, teamwork skills, initiative, and leadership skills Willingness to try new things and get creative Social media savviness would be an asset
Initial hours per week could range from 10-15 initially as we develop and launch new fitness programming, however the long term goal would be 20-25 hours per week once things are up and running (and opportunities for growth!).

Ideally available 1-2 evenings per week (negotiable).

Start date: Late fall (new programming set to launch in the New Year, but training/planning/organizing will begin several weeks sooner, likely slow build on hours

Willing to train the right candidate and cover expenses for additional courses to further expand skills before beginning the position.

Salary (hourly): dependent upon experience and skills

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 - 25 per week
