About Our Community:
The Lheidli T'enneh (historically known as the Fort George Indian Band) is a community that is built on and around the strength of its people. T'enneh means "The People". They are a sub-group of the "Dakelh" people whose traditional territory includes the city of Prince George, British Columbia. The name "Lheidli" means "The People from the Confluence of the River" in the Carrier language, referring to how the Nechako River enters the Fraser River at Prince George. The rivers spoken of are the Nee Incha Koh which means "river with strong undercurrents" and the Ltha Koh, the Big Mouth River.

An Early Childhood Educator is responsible for fostering a nurturing, supportive, and enriching environment for young children, typically from infant to age five. They play a key role in supporting children's cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development through structured activities, play, and personalized care. In this role, the educator works closely with children, families, and a team of professionals to create a safe and engaging learning and growing space.
The Early Childhood Educator also contributes to building a workplace culture that values inclusivity and promotes the well-being and development of young children. Experience working with Indigenous communities or diverse cultural populations is an asset, ensuring alignment with the values and goals of the Lheidli Littles' Lodge.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities:
Design and implement age-appropriate activities and learning programs that support child development in areas such as language, motor skills, social interaction, and emotional regulation.
Create and maintain a safe, clean, and organized learning environment. Ensure that the classroom is conducive to children's exploration and creativity while maintaining appropriate safety standards.
Observe and document each child's developmental progress and behaviors. Keep accurate records of milestones, behaviors, and any concerns that arise, and share these insights with parents and guardians.
Provide individualized care and attention to children, addressing their unique needs, including those with developmental delays or special requirements. Offer guidance to encourage positive behavior and social skills.
Build strong relationships with parents and caregivers, providing regular updates on their child's development and well-being. Engage with families to address any concerns and celebrate progress.
Work collaboratively with other educators and support staff to create a positive and efficient team environment. Participating in staff meetings and professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in early childhood education.
Promote positive behavior management techniques and resolve conflicts in a constructive manner, teaching children how to express emotions, solve problems, and respect others.
Ensure that all children are always supervised and safe. Follow health and safety policies, including first aid and emergency procedures, and encourage hygiene practices such as handwashing.
Knowledge & Skills Expectations
A degree and certification in Early Childhood Education (ECE).
2 years' experience working with children in a formal educational or caregiving setting
Strong understanding of child development principles
Patience, creativity, and a passion for teaching young children
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong program planning, organization, and time management skills

Organized, self-motivated and able to work with a team and independently.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to work with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
Good work ethic and positive team attitude.
Food Safe Certification.
Possession of A valid Class 5 Driver's License
Possession of or willingness to obtain valid First Aid and CPR certifications.
Must be willing to undergo a criminal record and vulnerable sector check.
Working Conditions:
Work Environment: Classroom setting, including activities indoors and outdoors, as well as close interactions with children.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift children, engage in floor-level activities, bend, and perform physical tasks associated with childcare.
