We are looking for a Registered Dietitian to join our Casa Mia Care team in Vancouver, B.C

As a Registered Dietitian your role will involve the following:

  • Interview each resident within the first two weeks of admission, then annually, or as required to determine preferences, allergies and therapeutic requirements.
  • Develop therapeutic and special diets according to resident requirements.
  • Include documentation of resident interviews and annual assessments in residents\' charts.
  • Inform the Director of Care and Food Services Manager of any special requirements or changes to residents\' nutritional status.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary care planning meetings when requested.
  • In conjunction with the Food Services Manager, ensures that the nutritional and therapeutic requirements of the residents are met.
  • Represent the interests of the facility when communicating with health care professionals, community workers, staff, families, visitors, and volunteers.
  • Participate in policy revision and development.
What does Dietitian do?
  • Uses a variety of quality assurance tools including those contained in the Quality Improvement & Risk Management Program to provide feedback to the Administrator and monitor the following:
  • Responsible for nutritional effectiveness, infection control, general safety and sanitation, food storage
  • Assists the Chef in the development and analysis of seasonal menus when requested
  • Assists the Chef in establishing menu substitutions and nutritional equivalents when requested.
  • Provides in-service training as requested by the Administrator or Food Services Manager.
  • Assists the dietary and direct care departments achieve compliance with the accreditation and provincial standards which govern food services in Complex Care and Assisted Living.
Education, Knowledge and Skill Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited school of Dietetics and completion of Dietetic Internship.
  • Minimum of one year\'s experience in the food service field and at least six months in a long term care facility.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with health care professionals, community workers, staff, volunteers, families and visitors.
  • Registration in good standing with the College of Dietitians of BC (CDBC)
About us: Casa Mia Care is opening in June 2023. This heritage home will offer 90 long term care beds, consisting of primarily single occupancy rooms. Many with expansive views over the Fraser River. Casa Mia is a storied 1930\xe2\x80\x99s mansion boasting views of gorgeous grounds, the Fraser River, Georgia Straight, and the mountains of Vancouver Island. Casa Mia works in collaboration with the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority to offer funded beds but also has 32 private pay rooms available.
