Registered Dietitian (18-Month Contract)
to support a large Seniors Living community in
Ottawa, Ontario
.
In this
full-time
role, you'll collaborate with residents, families, and an interdisciplinary team to ensure nutritional care plans are individualized and culturally respectful. You'll lead and support the Diet team within the food service department, mentor diet office technicians, and apply your clinical expertise to develop and implement evidence-based diet guidelines that promote health and quality of life.

How You'll Make an Impact:
Collaborate with residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members to create personalized nutritional care plans that reflect individual preferences, cultural backgrounds, and specific health needs
Lead and support the Diet team within the food service department, fostering a respectful and inclusive environment that encourages collaboration and excellence
Mentor and guide diet office technicians, promoting a shared commitment to delivering high-quality, compassionate service
Apply clinical expertise to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nutritional care that is evidence-based and tailored to each resident's unique goals and requirements
Monitor residents' nutritional status and conduct timely follow-ups as needed
Document all interventions accurately and consistently in resident charts
Act as a resource to health professionals including physicians, nursing staff, pharmacists, and social workers by providing recommendations for therapeutic diets, swallowing assessments, and other nutrition-related concerns
Support and lead departmental programs focused on nutritional outcomes, quality improvement, risk indicators, menu development, standards of care, and compliance with Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care guidelines
Participate in resident care conferences and relevant clinical team meetings
Perform other related duties as required,
Qualifications
What You'll Need to Succeed:
Bachelor of Science with focus in Food & Nutrition or equivalent
Completion of a recognized Dietetic Internship
Member of Dietitians of Canada
Current registration with the College of Dietitians of Ontario
Experience as a Clinical Dietitian, preferably in long-term care
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficient with Microsoft Outlook suite
Excellent organizational skills
Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
Ability to work well within a cross-functional team
Knowledge and understanding of MOH & LTC standards and guidelines

Duties
Assess patient nutritional needs through comprehensive evaluations and patient assessments.
Develop individualized care plans that address specific dietary requirements and health goals.
Supervise dietary department staff to ensure compliance with nutrition standards and protocols.
Provide education on nutrition, including tube feeding techniques and dietary modifications for various health conditions.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals to integrate nutrition into patient care strategies.
Maintain accurate documentation of patient progress using EMR systems.
Conduct health coaching sessions to motivate patients towards healthier lifestyle choices.
Stay updated on the latest research in dietetics, physiology, and geriatric nutrition.
Experience
Bachelor's degree in Dietetics or a related field; registered dietitian credential preferred.
Previous experience in hospital settings, long-term care facilities, or acute care environments is highly desirable.
Familiarity with dietary department operations and supervisory experience is a plus.
Knowledge of nutrition principles, health coaching techniques, and weight loss strategies.
Proficiency in using EMR systems for documentation and patient management.

Pay: $88,550.00-$95,450.00 per year
