Job Description

As a member of the health care team, the dietitian is collaboratively responsible for the nutritional management of patients using a family-centered approach. This includes comprehensive assessment of the nutritional status, implementation of the therapeutic diet orders, counselling, and teaching to patients and their families within Pediatric Ambulatory Services. The position with a focus on Comprehensive Pediatric Epilepsy to support complex seizure management through the implementation of classic ketogenic diet, Modified Atkins Diet, Low Glycemic Index therapy and individualized liberalized keto diets in the inpatient and outpatient settings. In addition this Dietician will support patient care in Peds Ambulatory Services, provide leadership and direction to support staff and learner education related to applied nutrition care.

Qualifications

1. Current registration with the College of Dietitians of Ontario
2. Baccalaureate Degree in Applied Human Nutrition or Baccalaureate of Science and successful completion of dietetic internship
3. Minimum of 1 years' experience as a registered dietitian in a tertiary care Pediatric setting within the last 3 years
4. Demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities in health teaching, dietetic assessment, treatment and counseling with pediatric patients and their families.
5. Knowledge and abilities in patient/family education
6. Knowledge, skills and abilities in caring for infants, children and adolescents as well as their families within the scope of the role of Dietitian
7. Excellent communication skills
8. Ability to work effectively with the interdisciplinary team
9. Ability to work in a fast paced changing environment
10 . Strong interpersonal skills and awareness of linkage with other health care team members
11. Demonstrates knowledge of evidence based practice
12. Participates in education and research activities
13. Membership with Dietitians of Canada required
