Registered Acupuncturist Or Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner

Vaughan, ON, CA, Canada

Job Description

Are you an R.Ac or R.TCMP with a passion for supporting people through cancer or other complex illnesses? Hillgreen's mission is to provide natural support for people with cancer and their loved ones. We use the beauty of TCM to address challenges people face throughout diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, metastasis and end-of-life care. We aim to help patients optimize their outcomes (length and quality of life), and relieve their discomforts along the way. We also provide high-quality general practice Traditional Chinese Medicine, with the ratio about 50% cancer patients and 50% general practice.

We're looking for an additional Associate Practitioner to join us at our Vaughan location, where we work in close partnership with the Marsden Centre for Excellence in Integrative Medicine, a leading naturopathic clinic with decades of experience in naturopathic oncology.

WHAT WE OFFER

Our vision is to build a warm and mutually-supportive team that helps grow TCM cancer care in the GTA. See https://hillgreen.ca for more info.

Hillgreen is an established team practice with a couple locations in the Greater Toronto Area (Midtown Toronto and Concord Vaughan). Because we deal with complex cases, you will be able to use your herbal skills. If you're motivated, you can build a dynamic, fulfilling practice with us. We offer an excellent opportunity to GROW as a practitioner, with difficult and complex clinical cases coming through the door each week. You'll get to use the full range of your TCM training. Expect to be CHALLENGED and to LEARN.

We offer training and resources on cancer care as well as practice-building (how to speak to patients, how to get them to commit, track their progress, feel satisfied, refer others, etc.).

R.Ac's are welcome to apply, however we especially encourage R.TCMP's, as we have a fair number of requests for herbal treatment, and there is the opportunity for frequent practice of herbal formulas in a variety of health conditions.

We cover clinic supplies (needles, cups, moxa, etc.), above-and-beyond PPE (N95 masks, face shields), air purifiers, cleaning and disinfectant supplies, clinic marketing, business cards, linens, etc. Electronic medical record system, online booking, reception support, marketing and admin assistance are also covered.

You don't need to already be an expert in cancer-focused TCM/acupuncture (although of course if you are, that would be great!). Any background you have in that area would definitely be helpful, but otherwise we can discuss what you would still need to learn and how you would learn it.

TIME AND LOCATION

We hope you can commit to at least 2 acupuncture (in-person) shifts per week

Available shifts: Vaughan: Mondays, Tuesdays, or Wednesdays anytime, or Thursday evenings.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

Registered Acupuncturist or Registered TCM Practitioner (R.TCMP preferred) with the CTCMPAO. Preferably with at least 2 years of clinical practice, however recent graduates will be considered. Rock-solid RELIABLE. That means you show up on time, prepared for your patients, and implement all the clinic systems thoroughly and consistently (e.g. charting, treating, re-booking, billing, treatment plans, etc.) DETAIL ORIENTED: You read instructions and follow protocols and procedures (especially important with our COVID safety procedures). COACHABLE: We've got great systems and scripts for patient on-boarding, sales, orientation, and retention. You need to be willing to learn these systems - they will help build your practice, and give our patients a consistent, high quality experience. KIND: You are present, kind, compassionate with your patients (while still being able to set healthy boundaries) COMFORTABLE WITH DISCOMFORT: You're open to facing grief, mortality and great physical discomfort with your patients ANTI-OPPRESSIVE: You're excited to be part of a 2SLGBTQ+, queer- and trans-positive, anti-racist, anti-oppressive TCM practice, and are committed to continued learning and self-reflection in this area. PLEASE DO NOT APPLY WITHOUT LOOKING UP WHAT "2SLGBTQ+" MEANS, AND ENSURING YOU HAVE SOME BASIC KNOWLEDGE ABOUT IT.*
COMMUNICATIVE: We work as a team, so you must be good at communicating appropriately and consistently. There are numerous receptionists, assistants, and other practitioners involved, and we have to share the necessary information so that patients don't feel confused or get conflicting messages. PASSIONATE ABOUT PATIENT CARE: You have the drive to grow and learn about TCM, as well as about cancer care. You're excited to do background research into new conditions you've never seen before, and to participate in our team's research & development MOTIVATED: While we provide support and new patient leads to build your practice, you have to take the seeds of what we offer and grow it through good patient care and reliable implementation of our patient management systems.
