About the Position This position is a leadership role with the Divisional Milling team. The position provides proactive leadership in the development, implementation, execution and performance of the Quality Systems to ensure product meets quality and food safety standards. In addition to leading efforts for the division, the position is responsible for Quality Managers in their region. This position reports to the Milling Divisional Quality & Food Safety Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provides support and guidance to local mill Quality Managers for decisions regarding quality/food safety impacts on products
Supports training activities regarding Quality and Food Safety
Maintains appropriate staffing within the Milling Division and facilitates succession planning by ensuring skills and development goals are established and achieved
Establishes goals and monitors metrics that support Quality and Food Safety
Manages, plans, implements and continuously improves programs and procedures
Distributes defined reports within the Region that identify improvement area actions and ensures Management Review intervals are followed for each mill location
Monitors IRM scores and ensures action plans are in place and effective for mills with below-target scores
Leads the Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) initiative and drives improvement within the mills, reducing quality and food safety related costs
Develops, implements and monitors quality verification programs within the plants
Works with operations to ensure products meet quality and food safety standards and provides guidance as needed
Supports overall safety goals as set within each mill location
Supports the commercial and technical organization with guidance, recommendations, resources and customer support quality and food safety issues
Travels as needed to support the needs in assigned Regions and across the Division, as requested
(Con\'t) Required Skills and Qualifications
Working knowledge of Document Management, spreadsheets, Excel and databases
Knowledge of applicable food regulations and requirements
Ability to make decisions based on information and data available
Ability to work as a team member and provide training
Ability to think strategically and proactively to contribute to the development of the organization
Ability to motivate staff and establish positive relationships across all levels of the organization
Education or Work Experience
Preferred 4 year degree or equivalent 7 year Food Safety experience and PCQI trained
Prior laboratory experience / knowledge of laboratory procedures
