The Regional Operations Manager (ROM), reporting to the Regional General Manager has responsibility for supporting the field operations in the areas of Fleet management, operational fixed assets and regulatory & technical compliance across the region to maintain effective customer service. The role interfaces with National Fleet, Fixed Asset and HS&E functions to ensure our regional fleet, fixed asset and regulatory compliance is in accordance with provincial and Federal regulations. There is a strong service element to the role whereby execution of our compliance, maintenance and tank installation work is following required technical standards. The role has a strong focus on Occupational Health and Safety to embed a safety culture further into the organization with special focus on Environmental E2 regulations in each province.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This role has a particular focus on supporting distribution and ongoing delivery /service optimization throughout the Region. Day-to-Day accountability for the effective & efficient use of assets - trucks, tanks.
  • Oversee and support the fleet manager to ensure the region has the appropriate fleet and asset compliment
  • Regional oversight of all regulatory, technical and compliance activities to meet provincial and federal regulatory body requirement including all environmental E2 plans and maintenance of plans. Accountable to work with many Corporate and Regional teams to deliver regulatory compliance around B51, 10 year inspections and other compliance requirements
  • Key liaison with the Operations Center to insure effective alignment.
  • Safety Leadership in the region (i.e. incident Reviews, market reviews, MORs, execution of regulatory compliance programs). Deals with all high risk crisis such as Forest Fires, floods, propane odorant, supply chain failures, injury accidents
  • Support and assist the General Manager in the development, implementation and management of regional budgets and forecasts. Facilitate all major capital expenditures (new plants, lease extensions, upgrades).
  • Supports all major customer installations, project management, and resource alignment and implement business plans to capture business growth and meet regional performance objectives and KPI\'s
  • As a regional champion of the Superior Way (MOS) this role ensures teams are working toward a common goal - KPI Management, Engagement, MS Schedule, Daily Huddles, etc.
  • Provide support and guidance to purchasing manager (where applicable) in procuring fixed assets and materials for the region within the national purchasing guidelines and requirements
  • Review Regional distribution strategies and provide direction and support to the Service and Delivery managers to meet customer delivery targets.
  • Oversight of technical Service, Safety and Field fixed asset Operations requires this position to effectively leading in a matrix organization - MMs, Deliver Manager, National Service, Corporate fleet and HSE&E. Coach and mentor market managers at an operating and technical level
  • Support the improvement of technician productivity and practices
  • Work with the regions and sales to generate revenue opportunities from better asset management - service rentals, inspections and reduced customer discounts
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
  • Possesses a post- secondary education in a technical field, business or engineering combined with solid experience in the service industry of 5-7 years. Service industry includes distribution, energy, logistics and supply chain, HVAC, Security, Appliances where there are regulatory requirements.
  • Has led larger regional capital projects.
  • Experience managing a regional fleet program including procurement, maintenance and redeployment of vehicles.
  • Worked in a service model organization supporting commercial and residential customers.
  • Led a regional Health & Safety function and proven experience within a highly regulated environment involving the transportation of dangerous goods.
  • Ability to work in Matrix environment where exerting influence and collaborating across the organization are keys for success.

  • This position comes with extensive travel across the regions and markets and will be expected to support. Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills and can work well using indirect leadership.
