About Hoover Mechanical

Hoover Mechanical is a 25+ year commercial contractor working on new commercial and multi-residential projects across Calgary. We're non-union, promote from within, and run long-term projects with stable crews. We invest in apprentices via our in-house "Hoover School" and support SAIT enrolment.

Role Summary

We're hiring full-time Refrigeration/HVAC Sheet Metal technicians at all levels -- 1st-4th year apprentices and Journeypersons. Primary focus: commercial new construction installations of HVAC and refrigeration systems. Citywide Calgary sites.

What you'll do

Install and fabricate ductwork, rooftop units, condensers, evaporators and associated piping. Assist with refrigerant charging, leak checks and commissioning when qualified. Read blueprints, installation drawings and layout sketches. Lift and position equipment (regular 25 kg+ lifts), work at heights and in tight spaces. Work with foremen and other trades to meet schedule and quality targets.

Schedule & pay practice

Standard site hours:

7:00 AM -- 3:15 PM

, Monday-Friday.

Overtime paid after 8 hours/day

(no hour banking). We post competitive wages internally and discuss rates during the phone screen.

What we expect

Reliable transportation to Calgary job sites. Own or basic set of hand tools. Comfortable climbing ladders and standing long shifts. Willingness to follow safety policies and use PPE. English sufficient for safe on-site communication.

Nice-to-have / assets

WHMIS, CSTS2020, Fall Protection, First Aid, Confined Space, Scissor/Boom lift, Telehandler, Refrigerant handling ticket, Sheet Metal apprenticeship or Journeyperson certification.
