Join the Cosmo team as a Recycling Truck Driver! We're offering a

full-time, 3-month contract

with a possibility for extension.

Job Summary


Working as part of the Recycling team, the Truck Driver receives and processes high-grade paper and confidential shredding. They support the values and mission of Cosmopolitan Industries by supporting program participants in the Recycling Area. The role of the Truck Driver is vital in achieving agency goals and promoting a positive company image.

Responsibilities



1. Receive, transport and process high-grade paper and confidential shredding. 2. Work in accordance with Cosmo Shred's NAID (National Association for Information Destruction) policies and procedures for handling confidential material. 3. Promote positive company image and public relations by driving in a courteous and safe manner. 4. Develop effective working relationships with all staff and program participants to ensure a respectful and positive work environment is achieved. 5. Operate equipment (forklifts, loaders) necessary for loading and unloading materials. 6. Lift and/or transfer supplies and equipment as necessary. 7. Assist in coordination of scheduling and dispatch of company vehicles for confidential paper pick-up. 8. Complete routine maintenance checks on equipment as required; report concerns. 9. Supervise and offer guidance and support that will encourage independence and assist participants in achieving their personal goals. 10. Maintain a clean and safe work environment. 11. Participate as an active team member (communication, coverage during staff shortages etc.). 12. Cross-train for other duties/positions as deemed necessary. 13. Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions



Personal protective equipment required for various activities/tasks e.g. steel-toed boots, safety glasses/goggles, safety vest, hearing protection etc. Works both indoors and outdoors Environment may expose workers to extreme heat/cold, paper dust, chemicals, diesel fumes, unusual/strong odors and/or contaminated materials/products; pet rabbits, birds and fish; visiting therapy animals e.g. dogs Exposure to volatile situations that have the potential to escalate to verbal and/or physical altercation may occur Works alone with program participants in the community and during transport

Schedules may not provide for scheduled breaks

May be required to work flexible work hours/days; shift work as scheduled

Skills, Effort, and Competencies



Must provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check prior to employment. Grad 12 Diploma or equivalent. Must possess a valid Saskatchewan Driver's License and maintain a driving record that is acceptable to Cosmopolitan Industries Ltd. Must be bondable. Ability to obtain NAID Certification. Basic knowledge of equipment maintenance. Experience operating a commercial truck and handling of material preferred. Experience providing supports to persons with intellectual disabilities is considered an asset. Strong oral communication skills. Ability to record data accurately. Positive approach and professional interactions with co-workers, the public and customers. Consistent demonstration of dignity and respect when interacting with others. Long periods of driving, standing and/or walking may be required. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. High level of sound and independent judgement and reasoning ability. Attention to detail. Ability to multi-task and establish priorities in a changing environment. Strong problem solving ability. Ability to work independently as well as part of the team. Strong time management skills. Willingness to participate in and apply relevant training as requested/required by Cosmopolitan Industries Ltd.

Do you have a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver's License with a clean Driver's Abstract? This position involves regular lifting, bending, walking, and other physical tasks.
