Position Summary

The Recruitment and Marketing Specialist will develop and oversee the implementation of the recruitment and marketing initiatives in the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences and the Faculty of Liberal Arts. Working closely with External Relations, Enrolment Services, Recruitment and Admissions, and other campus partners, this position will lead admissions, marketing, outreach and conversion strategies to boost the enrollment numbers in programs within the two faculties. The incumbent will increase awareness and interest in FHSS and FLA undergraduate and graduate programs by conducting outreach work, designing offline and online marketing materials, organizing promotional activities, attending relevant conferences and fairs, and strengthening the branding and reputation of the two faculties. They will create recommendations based on analytics, insights, defined objectives and best practices as important for the role to drive strategic direction.

Accountabilities

Lead Recruitment & Admissions\' Marketing Strategies for Undergraduate and Graduate Programming:

  • For graduate programming: based on the objectives of FLA and FHSS graduate programs, develops, implements, and leads a comprehensive integrated marketing and communications strategy in consultation with FGPS and External Relations.
  • For undergraduate programming: implements a comprehensive integrated marketing and communications strategy in alignment with the undergraduate recruitment and marketing strategy.
  • Researches and maintains significant knowledge on academics and student life at Laurier\'s campuses, including online.
  • Ensures that all efforts resonate with a diverse target demographic - locally, nationally, and internationally as appropriate.
  • Establishes and maintains communications best practices for the recruiting of students, including the implementation of current and emerging technologies.
  • Manages and supports the procurement process for external vendors to support the marketing efforts.
  • Consults and collaborates with External Relations, Enrolment Services, Recruitment and Admissions, FGPS, and other campus partners, to consider central agencies of record and best practices.
Recruitment & Admissions Support for Undergraduate Programming:
  • Work with Program Coordinators and Department Chairs to develop program-specific recruitment and marketing materials, and to effectively engage their faculty and staff in events/activities.
  • Plan Open House and other on- and off-campus recruitment and conversion events.
Social Media / Web Communications:
  • Consults and works in close alignment with the External Relations team to develop strategies and action plans.
  • Develops the strategy and oversees the messaging, organization, governance and overall direction of the online programs web properties, in support of prospective student communications, recruitment and internal communication goals, including content generation such as videos and stories.
  • Leads the production and delivery of digital communications aligned to web standards, brand guidelines and writing style guides (etc.).
  • Develops and executes content strategies and builds a relevant digital/social network to inspire engagement with Laurier Brantford programs.
  • Leads the growth and evolution of strategic on-line activities using a social media suite of products.
  • Provides thought leadership in the design and production of recruitment and admissions promotional material including promotional posters, tabloids, Dialogue publication, electronic presentation, offer conversion packages, etc.
  • Works with External Relations / Creative Services in design, copy writing, layout, and photograph selection of all promotional pieces.
  • Works with Communications and Media Relations in coordinating timing around publishing of social media posts and stories.
Market Research and Intelligence:
  • Using an evidence-based approach to decision making requiring a proven and robust approach to research and evaluation.
  • Ensure that marketing and communication activities have appropriate tools in place to measure success and future resourcing.
  • Identify new sources or methods for analyzing the effectiveness or marketing and communications activities and general outreach to prospective students.
  • Monitor trends in post-secondary education and recruitment, research information on direct competitors, prospective student satisfaction and stakeholder support.
  • Research and implement impactful marketing and communications initiatives to increase FHSS and FLA\'s exposure to our target demographic and geographic areas.
Qualifications
  • A university degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field
  • Minimum 3 years\' work experience in a marketing and/or communication and/or recruitment setting
  • Familiarity with the higher education sector and the relevant domestic and international markets an asset
  • Work experience developing, implementing, and measuring social media strategies including the use of social media as a marketing tool
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, including work experience writing news, web and marketing content, with writing skills that reflect a commitment to precision, customer service, and natural rapport building
  • Excellent team building skills and proven ability to uphold a collaborative approach
  • A passion for marketing and communications, building and growing brands, and delivering results through effective marketing programs
  • Proven ability to deal with multiple demands and priorities, and frequent competing deadlines, including under tight time pressures while meeting the needs of a variety of stakeholders and juggling several assignments simultaneously
  • Proven project management experience
  • Experienced at public speaking and making effective presentations that engage the audience to continue with a personal dialogue
  • Knowledge of and experience in advising students on educational policies and procedures an asset
  • Experience in event planning and project execution
  • Experience in effectively utilizing various digital communication platforms such as a CRM, PowerPoint, MS Teams, etc.
  • Experience managing and executing paid advertising campaigns within Google and social media platforms
  • Experience in creating content that leverages marketing best practices to deliver impactful results
  • Demonstrated skill/ability in the following areas: dealing effectively with people; exercising good judgement and initiative; answering inquiries in a clear and concise manner
Compensation

Grade: EX-G

Rate of pay: $ 60,712 - $ 75,890

Hours of Work:

This is a full-time continuing position. The normal hours of work are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday. Flexibility in hours will be required, including evening and/or weekend work due. When possible, the manager will adjust the work schedule so that no more than 35 hours are worked in a week.
