Our Team

The Talent Acquisition team leads Vale's efforts to attract, recruit and hire top talent to meet Vale's short and long-term business goals. Members of this team support a variety of clients across our Canadian Operations and Corporate Functions while collaborating with each other and contributing towards initiatives designed to deliver best in class Talent Acquisition practices.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking Recruiters to join our Talent Acquisition Team in Canada. This is a contract position.

Through strategic partnerships with Hiring Managers and in accordance with company policies and legislation, the Recruiter is responsible for managing the complete recruitment cycle - from the sourcing of candidates to the onboarding of the successful applicant. The Recruiter will play a critical role in ensuring we are hiring the best possible talent. In this role you will:

  • Own the end-to-end full-cycle recruitment for technical and non-technical permanent resources, using all available technology and tools, and keeping a high level of focus on diversity.
  • Leverage all available sourcing channels and talent pipelines to identify and match high quality candidates with the ideal positions.
  • Assess candidates to understand motivations, interests and determine fit with the position, level and through discovery calls, phone screenings, and interviews.
  • Coordinate and conduct Behavioral/Technical (BTI) Interviews for both internal and external candidates and coordinate/participate in unique group selection activities.
  • Progress candidates through the hiring process, maintaining communication, professionalism, and timely feedback to provide a positive candidate experience.
  • Make hiring recommendations, prepare compensation packages, extend job offers to successful candidates and work with other team member to ensure a seamless onboarding experience.
  • Remain current on external talent pools, talent personas, salary levels, hourly rates, market, geographical, and other trends within specialized roles.
  • Develop and foster collaborative professional relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide advice and coaching to hiring managers regarding recruitment best practices and ethics.
  • Conduct recruitment and selection process within established global guidelines and standards.
  • Act as a brand ambassador for Vale through participation in job fairs, career and networking events, candidate interactions, and other activities crafted to promote Vale as an employer of choice.
About You

Education
  • Post-Secondary education in Business and/or Human Resources.
  • Registered Professional Recruitment (RRP) is considered an asset.
Experience
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in Human Resources in a fast-paced, complex, large, and dynamic organization.
  • Experience with large volume recruitment efforts and conducting a diverse range of behavioral interviews.
  • Experience working with applicant tracking systems and other Human Resource Management software, such as Peoplesoft or Eightfold.
Skills
  • Excellent, client-focused verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and in a team-based environment.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Strong digital literacy (Microsoft Office: including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
