Overview


We are seeking a dynamic and engaging Recreation Leader to facilitate a variety of recreational activities for children in our After 3 afterschool program. This role involves creating a safe, inclusive, and fun environment that promotes physical activity, social interaction, and personal development. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children, strong leadership skills, and experience in educational or recreational settings. Prior experience in childcare, camp programs, sports coaching, theater, or early childhood education is highly desirable. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a positive impact on young lives while developing valuable skills in program management and child development.

Responsibilities



Plan, organize, and lead recreational activities such as sports, arts and crafts, and games tailored to different age groups Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during activities by adhering to safety protocols and supervising effectively Manage program space to maintain a positive environment conducive to learning and fun Implement behavior management strategies to promote respectful interactions among children and youth Provide guidance and support to children with special needs or those requiring additional assistance Collaborate with parents, guardians, and other staff members to coordinate programs and communicate progress or concerns Administer basic first aid when necessary and respond appropriately to emergencies Maintain accurate records of attendance and participation in activities

Skills



Strong classroom management abilities with the capacity to engage children effectively Experience working with children in settings such as daycare, preschool, camp programs, or tutoring environments Ability to implement behavior management techniques that foster positive social interactions First aid/cpr certification or willingness to obtain certification prior to employment Experience with special education needs or working with children requiring additional support is a plus Skills in sports coaching, theater arts, babysitting or childcare are advantageous Excellent communication skills for collaborating with parents, staff, and community partners Creativity in designing engaging activities that promote physical activity and personal growth

Requirements:



Ability to speak and write in English. Bilingualism is considered an asset. Valid First Aid/CPR certification. Clear Vulnerable Sector Check dated within the last 6 months.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $17.60-$19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 17.5 per week
