Your Opportunity:
Provides direction to the recreation program, as the Recreation Therapist II and working under the general supervision of the Manager, aims to enrich the lives of the residents in Supportive Living by providing the support and assistance implementing therapeutic recreation activities. The incumbent works directly with clients in the development, preparation, implementation, supervision and assessment of recreational activities and programs. The position involves provision of patient care, possible general supervision of professional and support staff, orientation of new staff and students to the service, participation in performance appraisals, participation in program evaluation and position involves participation on various committees setting clinical direction for patients care and operations. Performs interventions in accordance with established standards and procedures of the Recreation Therapy Department. NOTE: Nanton is located 70 km south of the Calgary city limits.
Description:
As a Recreation Therapist II, you will take a leadership role in ensuring that the level of therapeutic recreation practice in your clinical area is evidence based, patient-and family-centred and in accordance with policies, procedures and standards of practice. You will provide clinical leadership to ensure safe and efficient care as well as coordinate the assessment, treatment, education and care of the patient (client, resident). You will participate in program development to ensure effective delivery of services, including the development of protocols, forms, education, and quality improvement initiatives. You will complete assessment, treatment, education and management of clients treatment progress and provide clinical support and consultation. You will collaborate and communicate with the health care team and participate in patient rounds, family conferences and meetings as related to the client and family.
