The
Recreation Support Facilitator
will be responsible to assist with the design, implementation, evaluation, and delivery of the Alzheimer Society of Muskoka's recreational programs, including, but not limited to, in-home recreation, Minds in Motion, respite programs and social groups. The
RSF
will liaison with internal and external stakeholders as well as care partners and persons living with dementia to complete assessments, client care plans and maintain records in the client database.
The
Recreation Support Facilitator
, in coordination with other team members, will support volunteer recruitment, training and supervision within the recreational programs. The
RSF
will ensure that programs foster a safe, therapeutic and engaging atmosphere for participants and are inclusive and supportive at all stages of an individual's dementia journey.

Minimum Requirements:
Completion of post-secondary education in therapeutic recreation, gerontology, activation/recreation or related field;
Minimum of two (2) years' experience working with seniors with cognitive and physical disabilities, preferably in a community setting;
Demonstrated group facilitation skills and experience;
Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Alzheimer's disease and other dementias;
Valid driver's license and regular access to a reliable, insured vehicle;
Willing to travel within the Districts of Muskoka and Parry Sound;
Valid First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain before onboarding;
Completion of an approved Seniors Fitness Certification, or willingness to obtain;
Police Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.
Assets:
Certification in Gentle Persuasive Approach, Crisis Prevention Training, or similar.
Certification in DementiAbility, Montessori Methods for Persons Living with Dementia, or similar.
Experience in conflict resolution, de-escalation, and risk assessment;
Demonstrated assessment, problem-solving and critical thinking skills
Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks and manage a high caseload;
Ability to participate and contribute to a strong team environment with an inclusive and collaborative approach;
Ability to work under minimal supervision and act with a high degree of independent judgment, taking action on a variety of matters as required;
Open to receiving and seeking feedback, implementing new processes, and developing professional skills;
Maintain confidentiality and use discretion, judgment, and tact when navigating complex client situations;
Proficient with technology and comfortable using case management systems, virtual platforms, and office programs (e.g. Microsoft 365).
Complete job description available on request. This is a permanent full-time position based in our Bracebridge office with travel to other communities within the Districts of Muskoka and Parry Sound. Hybrid work options may be approved upon the completion of the probationary period. Salary will start in the $45,000 - $47,000 range per annum based on experience. This position typically works 37.5 hours per week during regular business hours; however, flexibility is required for occasional weekend and evening hours.
