Overview
------------
This position is responsible for the organization and implementation of a variety of recreation activities as well as community events. The initial location for this positions will be at the South Arm Community Centre, however, this is subject to change based on operational needs.
Examples of key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Assisting with the organization and delivery of a variety of recreation activities and community events.
Marketing and promotion of recreation activities and community events.
Developing, planning and implementing community events.
Researching trends and opportunities as it relates to recreation and events.
Providing customer service to internal and external contacts.
Assisting with rental and facility bookings.
Providing direction to staff and volunteers by allocating work, assigning tasks and monitoring work.
Providing administrative support, and first aid application as required.
Assisting senior staff as required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge of organized community recreation principles and practices.
Knowledge of the recreational, social, educational and cultural interests and resources of the area served.
Knowledge of recruitment and hiring processes.
Knowledge and skill in using City computer applications such as PeopleSoft (HCM), PerfectMind, Outlook and Microsoft programs; ability to use REDMS or a similar records management system.
Ability to organize, coordinate, and provide leadership for, and sometimes in, recreation program activities.
Ability to research and implement exceptional recreation programs and community events that align with departmental strategies.
Ability to instruct, schedule and provide direction to part-time recreation staff and volunteers; ability to assess and evaluate staff and provide input into performance assessments.
Ability to work independently following established methods and as part of a team.
Ability to effectively communicate written and orally using standard formats and styles.
Ability to prepare and maintain records and reports related to the work.
Ability to prepare, monitor and track budgets.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders including staff, community groups, sport organizations and the general public.
Ability to prioritize competing demands, work well under pressure, and deal with stressful situations with professionalism and tact.
Ability to provide effective customer service and to diffuse hostility in an effective manner.
Ability to successfully clear a Police Information Check.
Qualifications and Experience:

Completion of a Diploma in Community Recreation or related field is preferred. Completion of related coursework equivalent to a minimum of 1 year post-secondary is required, supplemented by a minimum of 1 year and up to and including 2 years of related community recreation experience. Valid Class 5 driver's licence for the Province of British Columbia is an asset. An equivalent level of education, training and experience may be considered.

Salary Range: $36.92 - $43.46/hr
Hours of Work: Hour: 24-28 hrs/week
Flex Blocking System in Effect: This position is on a flexible-blocking schedule. Hours will be scheduled based on operational need and can include daytime, evening, weekdays and weekends shifts of varying lengths as each shift can be extended or shortened by moving blocks of time as required within the pay period. Day shifts will be scheduled if there is no operational need for evening and weekend work.
