People like you!This is recreation leadership work in the organization and implementation of a variety of social, cultural or recreational activities focused on preschool within Cameron Recreation Complex. An incumbent of this class prepares and leads individual program plans and schedules for day to day operations of the recreational facility and for other indoor and outdoor supervised activities. Directs the implementation of program activities; provides leadership, coaching or instruction; and assesses program results and recommends changes as necessary in general programs. A Recreation Leader 2 will promote interest and participation in program activities while establishing and maintaining close liaison with community groups and the general public. Prepares promotional material and addresses various groups relative to program offerings and maintains records, activity reports, schedules , requisitions and equipment and supply inventories. Other responsibilities include enforcing rules and regulations and ensures that required standards of behaviour and safety are maintained in the facilities or areas serviced; identifying and assessing recreational, cultural and social needs; and assisting a supervisor in coordinating and administering the operations and programs within the facility. Participates in the recruitment of and gives guidance and instruction to part-time recreation program and ancillary staff and contractual instructors engaged in instructional or leadership tasks; makes recommendations for hiring, rehiring or dismissal of same; recruits, trains, directs and evaluates volunteers. Performs related work as required.Qualifications include completion of a two year Community Recreation program from a recognized Community College and some related experience; St. John\'s First Aid and CPR Certificates are desirable; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Sound knowledge of organized community recreation principles and practices as well as that of the recreational, social, educational and cultural interests along with the requirements and resources of the area or Centre served. A Recreation Leader 2 will have sound knowledge of the rules, regulations, procedures and policies governing the work performed; working knowledge of sports, crafts, arts and other pursuits related to various recreational, social and cultural programs. Ability to organize, coordinate, participate in and provide leadership in recreational, social and cultural program activities; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, contractual instructors, volunteers, groups, associations and the general public; and to prepare and maintain records, reports and promotional material related to the work.
