Job Summary


The Recreation Coordinator plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents in assisted, and communal living environments. This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing engaging recreational activities tailored to the interests and needs of seniors, individuals with disabilities, and those requiring dementia care. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and a passion for working with diverse populations to promote wellness and social interaction.

Responsibilities



Develop and implement a variety of recreational programs that cater to the physical, emotional, and social needs of residents. Coordinate activities such as arts and crafts, games, exercise classes, and outings to foster community engagement. Assess individual resident interests and abilities to tailor activities that promote participation and enjoyment. Maintain accurate records of participation in activities and gather feedback to improve future programming. Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to promote upcoming events and encourage participation. Provide support during activities, ensuring a safe environment while assisting residents as needed.

Qualifications

Previous experience in assisted living or nursing home settings is preferred. Background in senior care or working with individuals with disabilities is highly desirable. Strong communication skills are essential for interacting with residents, families, and team members effectively. Ability to create an inclusive environment that encourages participation from all residents regardless of their abilities. A creative mindset with the ability to develop engaging programs that resonate with seniors' interests. Certification or training in recreational therapy or related fields is an advantage but not mandatory.
