Position Overview:
The successful candidate will be
contracted
by Self-Sufficient Seniors Inc. as a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist. You will provide evidence-based therapeutic services to address a variety of mental health challenges common among seniors, such as anxiety, depression, grief, adjustment to life changes, and cognitive decline. Your role will focus on helping seniors improve their mental health, enhance coping skills, and achieve greater independence in their daily lives.
Responsibilities:
Conduct individual CBT sessions tailored to the needs and life stages of senior clients.
Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans with measurable goals.
Address issues related to grief, chronic illness, age-related transitions, social isolation, mood disorders and cognitive decline.
Collaborate with families, caregivers, and multidisciplinary healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care.
Maintain accurate and confidential client records.
Educate seniors on self-care techniques, coping skills, and mental health wellness strategies.
Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current on CBT and geriatric mental health practices.
Requirements:
Degree in Counseling, Social Work, Recreation Therapy or a related field.
Certification or extensive experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
At least 2 years of experience working with the senior population.
Strong understanding of the unique mental health needs of seniors.
Excellent communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative care team.
Valid drivers license and access to a car.
Preferred Qualifications:
Additional training or certification in gerontology or senior-focused care.
Familiarity with comorbid health conditions common among seniors.
Experience in community-based mental health, residential care, or home health settings.
