We are currently looking for a Recreation & Wellness Coordinator to join our team. QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education in Recreation, Leisure Studies or Gerontology and several years experience in the recreation field for older adults.
  • Knowledge and experience related to the social, recreation and wellness needs of the residents.
  • Proficient in the use of various computer programs including Microsoft Office, Publisher
  • Experience with creative posting on social media platforms an asset
  • A valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s licence is required, a Class 4 (Bus) would be an asset
  • First Aid/CPR certification
  • A clear Police Record Check/Police Vulnerable Sector Check
QUALITIES: The successful candidate will have the ability to provide leadership in organizing and implementing creative activities and events. An outgoing, energetic, enthusiastic, and compassionate disposition is required for this position. A genuine enjoyment for working with older adults. Excellent oral and written communication skills. POSITION: This full-time (40 hours per week) position is part time recreation, and part time wellness, responsible for the planning, implementation and evaluation of all social and recreation-based programs. These programs include, but are not limited to, exercises, crafts, games, presentations, entertainment, clubs, and bus excursions. Assisting residents with their day to day needs and encouraging their overall wellness in our residence. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop and implement unique social and recreation programs in a growing active seniors\xe2\x80\x99 residence
  • Creation of posts on social media platforms promoting activities, events and wellness in the residence
  • Plan, organize and accompany residents on bus excursions
  • Assist residents with personal tasks, such as assisting with appointments and companionship.
  • Learn residents likes and requirements upon initial move-in and periodically update these assessments as to their interests and participation in recreation programs.
  • Maintain up to date and accurate files and statistics on the successful execution of programs. Assess programs participation to enhance future programming.
  • Ensure that all programs are conducted in a safe and secure environment.
  • Create and prepare monthly newsletter with calendar of events and activities; ensure all residents are aware of and encouraged to participate in these events and activities.
  • Obtain and maintain a supply of equipment for activities and programs; maintain an inventory of items.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with the Kitchen department for events
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with community resources to facilitate their delivery of specialized programs, entertainment and presentations.
  • Maintain knowledge in the latest trends and developments in recreation programming for older adults by reading relevant materials, attending workshops, etc.
