This is a unique place to work; Our customers range is entertaining, and though most of it is repetitive, its expanding across the country and the world.

You'll be taking calls and helping horse owners, shoers (farriers), blacksmiths, knifemakers, universities, industries, schools, restaurants, glass blowers, boiler makers, crematoriums, and folks building home pizza ovens, and much much more.

Its a unique place to work. We don't expect you to know very much about anything we do or sell, you'll pick up on things simply by being curious, and our sharing. Some current or previous association with horseback riding, shoeing, blacksmithing can help.

Originally a strictly sports medicine practice for horses and having travelled the world attending conferences, we've evolved from providing therapeutic horseshoes from around the world to providing the materials and expertise to apply and build them which extended into the field of metallurgy and refractories and equipment manufacture, forges, anvils and much more to people from far and wide.

Currently we are hiring more help with our customers, and taking phone calls, fulfilling orders, which will itself assume more responsibilities coordinating projects here soon. We will be needing additional help on the fabrication side before long, and depending upon your interests and skills other opportunities exist and I'll certainly accept applications or phone calls to discuss other rolls as well.

Location:

You'd work in a great little shop on the outer west edge of Edmonton in a nice rural setting, helping us help farriers help horses, and an assortment of knifemakers, crafters, and blacksmiths, and special industries both local and around Canada.

There is a possibility that some extra work can be done remotely (especially over time).

is required as helping customers, receiving, stocking, & packing products, and other projects involve mobility and sometimes modest strength.

Additional Interest or Skill Opportunities:

Tasks with the Online Store from APP optimizations, AI integrations, Product & Photo graphics optimizations.

Tasks with product prep: Mixing, filling, cutting, rolling and wrapping, labelling, etc.

Tasks Outdoors: Grounds maintenance projects.

Tasks with Production: Product assembly, casting assistance.

3D scanning/modelling/ CAD or Fusion 360 attenuation /3D printing, etc.

Industrial machining, milling, knowledge in metallurgy, blacksmithing, tempering, and hardness testing.

Welding knowledge or ability.

Farrier industry knowledge.

Refractory Industry Knowledge, interest, products, packing and casting.

PID or programmable electrical circuitry knowledge.

Interest in Production projects from casting, mold making, kiln hardening, rotational casting, urethane and silicone, from a knowledge of differences to experiences with their use.

For persons with the skillset or aptitude, there may be opportunities to contribute to other workflows in the design and fabrication side of the business.

Work Time Flexibility:

There may be some flexibility with the hours worked per day and the number of days worked per week to suit. There is some flexibility as to whether this is offered as a part?time or a full?time position, depending upon some of the skill sets of the successful applicant. As a minimum, we are looking for help from 8 am?1 pm or 8?4 a few days a week.

Reporting:

You report directly to the owner and will work well in close partnership with our total staff of 4?5 persons.

How long is your drive (commute) from home (approximately) to Canadian Forge? We can discuss pay in person, and what we offer will be related to the ways you can help Canadian Forge, & the tools you bring. We are also prepared to invest in training the person if stunning attitude and character are brought in spades. Without any commitments, what is the price range per hour you could consider starting at this month? Does your schedule permit you to arrive early or work late or on weekends if a circumstance arises that would make doing so helpful? (this is not a requirement - just getting a sense of how we can structure this to work for us both. I have some flexibility on my end) We do stock boxes of horseshoes that weigh between 5 and 35 lbs, and some products or pails can weigh 57 lbs. How physically healthy are you? Are you able to move products up to 55 lbs when required for stocking shelves, or shipping etc? Do you have any history of back or other chronic or intermittent pain or similar disability that could influence your ability to help in this capacity? Approximately how many words per minute can you type? Would you be available for a short phone or in person meeting between 4-8pm weekdays or noon-5pm weekends if your application is advanced? Is there job position quality from your perspective that you've find particularly helpful or beneficial? How soon could you be available to start if successful?
