The Advanced Receiving & Inventory Control Associate is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, ensuring proper stock levels, and overseeing the advanced receiving process. This role plays a critical part in reconciling purchase orders (POs) and invoices to facilitate accurate payments and efficient inventory management. The associate must perform all assigned tasks with speed and accuracy to prevent service disruptions and ensure smooth operations.
Job Responsibilities
PRIORITY A - Inventory Accuracy & Advanced Receiving
Acts as an internal inventory auditor with sole responsibility for performing and maintaining cycle counts.
Conducts Advanced Receiving, which includes:
Matching POs against Home invoices and processing payments.
Using Eagle software to validate invoice details.
Identifying discrepancies between the invoice and PO and working with Accounts Payable (AP) to resolve issues.
Ensuring that once discrepancies are fixed, invoices are properly processed.
Reviews negative on-hand report, spot checks flagged items, and makes necessary adjustments to inventory counts
Reviews reserve order and special-order sku reports, making necessary customer calls or returning products to inventory as needed.
Actively counts inventory gaps on a weekly basis across the retail floor.
Implements and monitors red/green tag program to assist Department Heads with inventory actions.
PRIORITY B - Inventory Optimization & Loss Prevention
Adjust inventory levels as necessary to ensure proper stock accuracy.
Reviews obsolete item reports and assesses whether discounting, clearing, or replacement is needed.
Monitors for potential shoplifting risks and suggests changes to product placement to minimize theft.
Communicates real or anticipated inventory issues with management.
Recommend improvements to inventory procedures, policies, and operations that could enhance efficiency, profitability, or team morale.
Adheres to and promotes company policies and procedures.
PRIORITY C - Logistics & Special Projects
Assists in unloading and processing incoming freight.
Ensures proper equipment is used for loading and unloading to prevent damage and workplace hazards.
Follows all safety protocols and reports potential hazards to management.
Works on special projects assigned by management, prioritizing them relative to core responsibilities.
Provides periodic stock level reports to store or assistant manager.
Minimizes loss and damage to merchandise in the receiving and inventory storage areas.
Performs additional tasks as needed to support store operations.
This position reports to the General Manager and Assistant General Manager.
Experience
Previous experience in warehouse distribution or shipping/receiving roles is preferred.
Basic accounting principles.
Familiarity with e-commerce operations is a plus.
Experience operating forklifts or other material handling equipment is advantageous.
Knowledge of order picking processes, MRP systems, and warehouse management systems will be beneficial.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to lift packages weighing up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
