We are looking for an experienced part-time (20hrs per week) school-age RECE Teacher to join our licensed before and after school program. Our Program has proudly served families in our community for the past 35 years. We operate in of the finest elementary schools in Etobicoke and provide quality programs for children ages 4 -10 years.
Qualifications:
Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) must be registered with the College of ECE
At least two years of experience directly working with large groups of children ages 4-10 years, preferably in a school or camp setting
Must have a wide range of experience working with children ages 4-10 years of age experience organizing and supervising team sports and group games
Excellent behaviour management skills and the ability to lead, coach, supervise and motivate large groups of children
Familiar with Child Care and Early Years Act and requirements for operating a licensed child care centre
Developing and implementing quality play-based learning in a licensed child care setting
Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to foster relationships with co-workers, children and families
Supervisory experience would be an asset
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Required to use medium physical effort i.e. lifting supplies, moving furniture
Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions, for up to two hours per day
Proof of up-to-date First Aid and CPR level C
Successful completion of Police Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Check
Up-to-date immunizations including a TB test
Ability to work afternoon shift each day (Monday to Friday) 2:00 - 6:00 pm and full days on P.A.Days and during camps at Christmas , March Break and Summer.
Responsibilities:
Provides quality child care to all children in our inclusive and diverse Programs
Plans, prepares and implements a wide range of age appropriate, educational activities in accordance with the goals of the Centres' Program Statement
Engages with children, supervises groups of children and ensures their safety at all times
Excellent behaviour management skills and ability to support the diverse needs of older school-age children
Is capable of working independently with minimal supervision
Is familiar with The Child Care and Early Years Act and requirements for compliance
Knowledge of "How Does Learning Happen" ELECT and Assessment For Quality Improvement (AQI)
Completes all assigned training and follows all Program policies and procedures
Able to complete written observations regarding child development and interactions
Complete daily written reports and forms for health and safety records
Develops positive professional relationships with co-workers, school personnel and families
Time management skills and a professional work ethic are essential
Experience with Microsoft Office
Other duties as assigned by the Director
Salary and Benefits:
25.00 - 27.00 per hour, based on qualifications and experience
Additional paid hours for: program planning, team meetings and training
Provincial Wage Enhancement funding (when available)
