RECE FACILITATOR (Part-Time) -EARLYON CENTRE
PLASP Child Care Services is a charitable organization operating on a not-for-profit basis, providing high quality early learning and child care, for children up to 12 years of age. PLASP operates in more than 240 schools providing before school, lunch, and after school programs and 38 full-day early learning and child care centres and six EarlyON locations for children from 0 - 6 years.
The EarlyON centre is a child and family centre offering free drop-in centre based, outdoor and virtual programming for caregivers and children from birth to 6 years of age. These programs allow caregivers and children the opportunity to participate in active, play-based learning opportunities together such as storytelling, sing-alongs, creative art experiences and more. Caregivers can also seek and receive advice from Early Childhood professionals while connecting with other families within the community. Programs follow the Ministry of Education pedagogy, How Does Learning Happen? (HDLH?)
The EarlyON centres operate year-round including during March/Spring Break and in the summer months.

THE POSITION INVOLVES...
The successful candidate will provide a full range of duties, including:
Creating and provide a welcoming and inclusive environment where children and families engage in learning through play and inquiry as is consistent with the How Does Learning Happen? (HDLH?)pedagogy
Planning and implementing activities especially in multicultural and inclusive environments and within a variety of settings including outdoor, virtual and in the centre.
Engaging caregivers in conversations that support the positive development of their child and provide and/or refer parents to resources and specialized services that will support them
Completing program assessment on an on-going basis
Work with staff to provide programming that is reflective of the culture and unique needs of the children and families attending the program
Modeling and demonstrating positive adult-child interactions for parents and caregivers
Planning adult workshops for caregivers that are relevant to the needs of the families
Collecting and reporting data on program
Attending workshops, conferences and seminars which promote both professional and personal growth
THE PREFERRED CANDIDATE WILL HAVE...
An Early Childhood Education Diploma (RECE)
A Minimum of 2 years' experience delivering programs to children and families
In-depth knowledge and experience applying play and interest based learning using How Does Learning Happen? (HDLH?)* Experience working with groups of children between the ages of 0 to 6 years and with adults
Experience working in multicultural and inclusive environments
A positive and sensitive attitude towards children and caregivers
The ability to communicate effectively in non-judgemental ways with children, parents, community partners, school staff and coworkers
A flexible and willing attitude towards lifelong learning and professional development
Excellent relationship building skills and demonstrated ability to network
Strong research and excellent computer skills
A valid Standard First Aid with Level C CPR certificate
A valid original Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check, completed within the last six months
Up-to-date immunization records
The ability to speak another language is an asset
