Workplace Arrangements: this is a 12 month contract role
This role will follow a hybrid remote/onsite schedule. Applicants for this role can expect to work on-site from our Ottawa Head Office, on Walkley Road 2-3 days a week for an 8-5 schedule.

The Real Estate Spatial Analyst at Giant Tiger manages new store sales forecasts, prepares detailed Real Estate Committee packages, and maintains research databases to inform strategic decisions. Utilizing GIS-based tools, the analyst identifies trade areas, tracks market dynamics, and analyzes store performance while managing third-party data relationships and collaborating across departments.
Real Estate Spatial Analyst, Role Accountabilities:Manage the new store sales forecasts and cannibalization predictions process. Prepare in-depth requests as directed by the Head of RE for review by the GMs and EVP Store Ops. Ensure all requests are submitted, tracked and updated. Prepare in depth REC packages. As directed by the Head of RE, prepare the summary sheets, including all Financial information, ensuring they are updated monthly. Identify new store trade area using geographic boundaries and postal code surveys of existing stores. Prepare the REC packages including maps, competition, distances, aerials of the trade area, site plan, layout, pylon signage, etc. Manage and update all research databases to determine Build-out Strategy and identify target developments. Using in-house GIS-based databases, mapping software and postal code surveys, identify trade areas for all stores and potential locations across Canada. Track market share and penetration, competition, cannibalization, demographics and pyschographics, etc and ensure our databases are current Provide ad hoc analyses on store performance and traffic drivers. As requested by the Head of RE, perform analyses on store performance, market share and traffic drivers. Monitor new store performance and track against forecasts for sales and cannibalization. Analyze disposition lists of retailers to identify potential fit for GT. Perform market investigations using the strategy session results. Manage third party relationships with Tetrad, Tango and Environics.
Ensure our data is current and updated regularly by our service providers. Ensure that all updates are carried out without glitches and in accordance with the contracts. All dashboards and requirements are met including our new sales forecasting and cannibalization model.
Work cross-functionally with other departments such as finance, strategic planning, marketing and store operations. Ensure that our dashboards and trade area requirements reflect that of the customer value proposition of the organization Attend seminars or online webinars to research new analytical techniques and industry trends. Ensure that our research model is reflective of current trends and relevant data in the retail real estate industry.

Real Estate Spatial Analyst, Key QualificationsBachelor's in Geography with GIS mapping concentration. Minimum 3 to 5 years in related field. Strong Analytical and critical thinking skills. Detail oriented Strong presentation skills, extremely proficient in Powerpoint and Excel Strong understanding of demographics and pyschographics. Ability to manipulate data using regression analyses, using related software. SME in related technology.
