Role Overview
The Real Estate Agent will be responsible for identifying, securing, and negotiating prime retail locations to support the expansion of IFI's portfolio brands. This role requires a strong network within the commercial real estate industry, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to align real estate opportunities with each brand's unique positioning and growth strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Site Selection & Market Development
Conduct market research and trade area analysis to identify high-potential sites for retail, QSR, and lifestyle concepts.
Evaluate demographics, traffic patterns, and competitive landscapes to recommend optimal locations.
Present and justify site packages to internal stakeholders and franchise partners.
Real Estate Negotiation & Deal Execution
Lead lease negotiations, renewals, and amendments with landlords, developers, and property managers.
Build and maintain strong relationships with mall operators, brokers, and developers across Canada and internationally.
Ensure leases align with financial, operational, and brand standards.
Cross-Brand & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work with franchise sales, construction, and operations teams to align real estate pipeline with business development goals.
Support both corporate-owned and franchise-owned growth strategies.
Adapt site selection strategies to each brand's identity and consumer base (e.g., premium retail for The Body Shop, lifestyle centers for One Plant, food courts and high-traffic malls for Yogen Fruz).
Pipeline Management & Reporting
Maintain accurate and updated real estate pipeline reports.
Provide regular updates on site activity, deal status, and market opportunities to leadership.
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in commercial real estate, retail leasing, or QSR real estate development.
Proven track record of securing prime retail locations with national/international landlords.
Strong negotiation, financial acumen, and lease structuring expertise.
Deep knowledge of Canadian and U.S. retail landscapes; international experience an asset.
Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with multiple brands and stakeholders.
