A career in credit risk at National Bank means contributing to the transformation and having a direct impact on clients. As a Real Estate Credit Risk Manager, you will perform risk monitoring and control for a large portfolio of commercial real estate loans. You will approve commercial real estate loan applications and advise managers from the Commercial Banking business line on using risk management best practices to achieve their objectives. Your role

• Approve or refuse commercial real estate loan applications of $1.25M and over in line with the latitudes granted to you and the policies, standards and procedures in effect
• Advise Commercial Banking managers on real estate risk management best practices and, if necessary, suggest suitable financing alternatives to enable loans to be granted
• Establish effective and harmonious working relationships with Commercial Banking managers and work in partnership to provide a high level of service
• Promptly identify deteriorations in credit risk and, if necessary, recommend that these loans be transferred to the Special Loans team in order to minimize potential loan losses
• Help draw up and/or revise policies, standards and procedures for granting real estate financing

Required skills

• A bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in a related field plus 7 years of relevant experience OR a master\xe2\x80\x99s degree in a related field plus 5 years of relevant experience
• Sound knowledge of the commercial real estate sector and grasp of traditional financing methods for industrial, commercial and office properties
• Experience in commercial credit
• Bilingualism (English and French) required, as you will regularly do business with partners across Canada

Preferred skills

• Ability to quickly identity major potential risks and suggest appropriate risk reduction solutions
• Ability to negotiate and resolve complex credit risk issues
• Knowledge of the multi-residential real estate financing sector, an asset
• Experience in banking, an asset
