Job Title Associate Director, Real Estate Credit - Ottawa, ON



What is the opportunity?

As an Associate Director, Real Estate Credit, you will be required to support Directors and Senior Account Managers in the bank\xe2\x80\x99s Real Estate Markets group. You will be responsible for analyzing and underwriting new loan requests with the use of the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s Risk Assessment Framework/RAF, Financial Analysis and Credit Tools/Newton and Commercial Credit Request. The primary responsibility of the Associate Director, Real Estate Credit is to compile financial information and prepare credit submissions to the bank\xe2\x80\x99s credit group. Other responsibilities include daily administration of the Group\xe2\x80\x99s lending portfolio; performing annual credit reviews of the existing portfolio; liaise both internally and externally with various stakeholders in the credit process; and actively participate in other team initiatives (industry research reports / ad hoc portfolio strategy requests / portfolio reporting management).

What will you do?

  • Focus on financing requests in the Ottawa real estate term debt markets;
  • Provide specific deal support as it relates to bilateral and syndicated senior secured loans including: budgetary analysis, cash flow analysis, financial statements analysis, market analysis and credit writing; and
  • Provide portfolio management oversight with assigned portfolios.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
  • Minimum 3 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in commercial lending in a financial institution would be preferred. We would also consider Bachelor of Commerce graduates, financial analysts, risk managers, corporate accountants and Chartered Professional Accountants as well;
  • Experience in commercial credit, financial statement and underwriting analysis;
  • Strong analytical skills (understanding of financial concepts and applications);
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills;
  • Must be independent worker and team player with a positive attitude;
  • Motivated proactive thinker with detail-oriented and creative problem solving approach;
  • Experience with emerging communications and technology (i.e., web based meetings, social media, digital banking, and mobile applications)
Nice-to-have
  • 3-6 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in commercial real estate
  • MBA or CFA
  • Industry / market knowledge of the commercial real estate sector
