We're looking for a strategic and hands-on Controller to join our senior management team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our portfolio and company.
About the Role:
As our Controller, you'll take the lead on all day-to-day accounting operations, overseeing reporting, cash flow, and team management across our diverse real estate portfolio. Your impact will be felt across multiple property types, from office and retail to residential, and will extend through Quebec, Ontario, and beyond. This is a rare opportunity to oversee accounting operations in a growing and complex environment, all while helping shape the next chapter of our success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Leadership: Lead all accounting functions, from monthly/quarterly reporting to budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Team Management: Guide a team of 8-9 talented professionals, including senior bookkeepers and accounting clerks, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
- Software Proficiency: Work with industry-leading property management tools (Yardi, Argus) and Excel for financial modeling, while ensuring accuracy and precision across systems.
- Partner Relations: Maintain and grow strong relationships with partners and clients in key markets across Canada and internationally.
- Process Improvements: Drive efficiency and continuous improvement across financial processes to support the ongoing growth of the business.
- Future Vision: Be a key player in the company's transition over the next 5-10 years, positioning yourself as a future leader in our organization.
What You'll Bring:
- Experience: 10-15 years of experience in real estate accounting (we are open to considering candidates with slightly less experience if you're eager to grow).
- Professional Designation: A CPA designation is preferred but not essential.
- Hands-on Approach: While you will lead, you are also willing to roll up your sleeves and dive into the details, especially on complex files.
- Strategic Insight: Strong understanding of real estate finance and the ability to drive improvements across operations and processes.
