Gardiner Miller Arnold LLP ("GMA") is a small law firm specializing in real estate and condominium law as well as business law and commercial litigation. We are in need of a knowledgeable, mature, and skilled real estate law clerk to join our real estate practice.
This job is an in-office position from our head office on Bay Street in downtown Toronto. If you wish to work remotely or hope that this position will transition to a remote position please do not apply. The hours are 9-5. We are on the subway and close to Union Station. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is eager to learn and grow, a team player and motivated to join our busy real estate team.
Responsibilities
Prepare/assist with Residential/Commercial Purchases, Sales, and Financing Transactions.
Work as a team with our other real estate clerk.
Possess the knowledge and have the ability to take carriage of high volumes of real estate transactions per month from start to finish.
Have excellent verbal and written skills in English.
Communicate directly with clients, lawyers, clerks, banks, mortgage brokers, realtors, title insurance companies and other parties in a typical real estate transaction.
Conduct title searches/writ/execution searches and to be able to identify when off-title searches are required.
Be able to review and understand searches with a view to determining necessary requisitions.
Conduct searches required on commercial real estate and financing transactions.
Prepare and register various documents in Teraview, including - Charges, Transfers, Discharges and Notices.
Prepare reporting letters and accounts to clients and lenders.
Responsible for preparing cheques, wire transfers and to coordinate banking for closings transactions.
Conduct special assignments as required.
Qualification Required:
This role is best suited to an individual with at least 10 years of real estate law clerk experience with a similar background in handling all aspects of residential/commercial real estate transactions.
Must possess an appreciation for five-star professional and friendly customer service interactions.
Ability to be proactive, organized, meet strict deadlines while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
You are detail-oriented with a positive outlook and have strong time management skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
You have excellent proficiency in MS Word and Excel, Teraview, Conveyancer/ Unity, LDD, PCLaw, FCT, Stewart Title, Title Plus and MMS systems.
