About the Role


We're launching our new

Calgary

location and are hiring Reading Tutors who are excited to help build it from the ground up. The right candidate will start as a tutor and be fast tracked

quickly into a management role

(e.g., Lead Tutor/Manager) as the centre grows.

What You'll Do



Individualized Tutoring:

Provide one-on-one sessions for children with learning differences using the DOBI Reading Program--rooted in Orton-Gillingham, Barton, and Davis methods.

All training provided.

Assessment:

Conduct initial assessments, identify strengths/gaps, and reassess regularly to tailor instruction.

Lesson Planning:

Create and deliver personalized, multi-sensory lesson plans aligned to the DOBI curriculum.

Progress Tracking:

Maintain clear records, track milestones, and communicate regular progress updates to parents.

Collaboration:

Work with parents, teachers, and other professionals to support a cohesive learning plan.

Adaptability:

Stay current with best practices and program updates; refine methods as students' needs evolve.

Motivation & Support:

Build confidence and resilience through a positive, encouraging learning environment.

Feedback:

Offer practical strategies and at-home reinforcement ideas to families.

Fast-Track Management Responsibilities (as you ramp):



Help hire, train, and mentor new tutors for the Calgary centre. Support scheduling, quality standards, and parent communications. Contribute to site operations, growth initiatives, and community outreach.

Requirements & Nice-to-Haves



Education Experience:

Background working with kids in an educational setting. Education or psychology degree (or in progress) is preferred but

not required

.

Communication:

Excellent written and verbal skills to clearly share progress, challenges, and next steps.

Empathy:

Strong interpersonal skills and a supportive mindset for learners with diverse needs.

Adaptability:

Comfort personalizing instruction and adopting evidence-based practices.

Organization:

Solid record-keeping and lesson planning.

Assets (not required):

Experience with learning disabilities or OG/Barton/Davis approaches.

Logistics:

Reliable transportation; punctual for scheduled shifts.

Screening:

Police/educational background check required prior to hiring.

Location:

Calgary, AB (on-site) - 200 Country Hills Landing NW

Compensation:

CA$20.00-CA$23.00/hour (based on experience and training progress)

Schedule:

Part-time initially, and then full time after building up client base

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.00-$23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 5 - 30 per week

Work Location: In person
