SUMMARY
The R&D Engineer II contributes to the development of simulation software products for optoelectronics. In this role, the R&D Engineer II will collaborate with a team of expert professionals to understand customer requirements and accomplish research and development objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs research and development activities, including the design, implementation, maintenance, testing and documentation of simulation software.
• Understands and employs best practices in simulation methods research and software development.
• Researches problems discovered by quality assurance or product support teams and develops solutions.
• Understands the marketing requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria and competitive issues.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• BS degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics with 2 years\' experience or MS degree in the same areas
• Excellent understanding of semiconductor physics and numerical simulation methods for semiconductor band structure and charge transport, such as drift-diffusion and k.p.
• Working experience with C/C++ programming languages or similar languages.
• Working experience with Python or MATLAB scripting.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• PhD in Electrical Engineering or Physics
• Technical knowledge and experience with coupling optical, electrical, and thermal effects in photonic and optoelectronic devices, such as lasers and light emitting diodes.
• Experience in a large-scale commercial software development environment.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to learn quickly and to collaborate with others in a geographically distributed team.
