Position Summary:
The R&D and SR&ED Specialist plays a dual role in supporting technical innovation and ensuring full documentation and eligibility for SR&ED (Scientific Research and Experimental Development) claims. Operating within an industrial bakery environment, this role involves hands-on product and process development, while also collecting, organizing, and preparing the technical documentation required to support SR&ED tax credit applications.
Key Responsibilities:
Research & Development (R&D):
Support the development of new formulations and process improvements suitable for high-volume production.
Assist with trial batches, performance testing, and scaling to full production.
Document technical challenges, experiment results, and iterations for continuous improvement.
Collaborate with QA, Production, and Engineering teams for implementation and validation.
SR&ED Documentation and Support:
Identify eligible R&D activities and experimental development under SR&ED criteria.
Maintain organized documentation including trial logs, project summaries, and technical notes.
Write technical narratives explaining challenges, hypotheses, methods, and outcomes.
Coordinate with finance and SR&ED consultants to compile and submit claims.
Support CRA audits or reviews with required technical documentation.
Qualifications:
Degree or Diploma in Food Science, Baking Technology, Engineering, or related discipline.
2-5 years of experience in product development or technical roles within food manufacturing.
Experience with SR&ED documentation or understanding of CRA criteria is a strong asset.
Familiarity with industrial bakery processes, ingredients, and equipment.

Ability to translate operational activities into SR&ED-eligible documentation.
Collaborative and cross-functional approach to trials and investigations.
Organized, analytical, and capable of managing multiple technical projects simultaneously.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $80,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
