This position reports into the Analytical R&D Manager and is based at Guelph, Canada.

What will you do

The R&D Analytical Assistant Scientist (Co-op) is responsible for supporting the R&D Analytical team and R&D laboratory. Specifically, the successful student will support the general maintenance of lab areas, systems and equipment to ensure facilities remain in a compliant state acceptable to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). They will assist with activities required for analytical testing of solid dose products including cleaning glassware, equipment set-up, solution preparation and waste disposal. The student will also have opportunities to participate in and gain exposure to the R&D and Manufacturing Science & Technology (MS&T) activities which support the life cycle management (LCM) of over-the-counter (OTC) pharmaceutical products in the different global regions.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain equipment and lab in good order in accordance with cGMP\'s

• Handle disposition of chemical waste according to government regulations

• Ensure integrity of laboratory glassware

• Prepare various solutions for use in analytical testing

• Assist with analytical and physical testing of solid dose products

• Maintain up-to-date and accurate records of all work performed

• Miscellaneous tasks as required by project owners

Qualifications

What we are looking for

Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor\'s degree program and eligible to complete a 4-8 month (8 month preferred) co-op term at our Guelph manufacturing location

• Must have completed at least 1 analytical or bio-chemistry related course and be comfortable working in a laboratory environment.

• Proven ability to work independently without continuous feedback

• Strong organizational, documentation and communication skills

Desired Qualifications

• Preferred majors: Sciences - Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Science, Biology or Biological Sciences, Chemical Engineering

• Someone who takes initiative, has a high level of attention to detail, and knows when to seek assistance will be successful in this role. Previous experience in a laboratory setting would be an asset but is not required
