NL Health Services are seeking a clinical Radiochemist to support the clinical work of the Radiopharmaceutical Sciences. Reporting to the Manager of Radiopharmaceutical Sciences and Cyclotron Operations, the Radiochemist works directly with a team of healthcare professionals within the Nuclear and Molecular Medicine program. The Nuclear and Molecular Medicine facility is equipped with an IBA 18/18 cyclotron to support Single Photon Radiopharmaceutical (SPR) and the Positron Emitting Radiopharmaceutical (PER) production, as well as a cold chemistry laboratory and in the future an animal imaging laboratory.The Radiochemist is responsible for the oversight of the radiopharmaceutical chemistry operations for SPRs and PERs as part of the NL Health Services - Radiopharmaceutical Sciences operation, and research as appropriate which includes taking the appropriate actions to ensure that the equipment used for the clinical work is operational. Other responsibilities include supervision of routine clinical SPRs and PERs production, production of research radionuclides and radiopharmaceuticals, as well as research and development. Additionally, the Radiochemist will oversee radiopharmaceutical product quality control and record keeping ensuring compliance with regulations and guidelines and training of personnel based on internal operating standards on quality control and production of such SPRs and PERs. The Radiochemist will also be required to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, educate the Radiopharmacy Technologist staff, and lead process improvements within the department.
The Radiochemist must ensure that all activities are carried out by following established Quality Assurance/Quality Control procedures, applicable environmental and safety regulations, and other requirementsJob Demands

This position presents a high responsibility to protect self and others from radiation exposure.
Maintenance of the cyclotron and related radiopharmaceutical production equipment is a stressful job demanding attention to small details.
Constantly sits to perform paper/computer work and operation of remote equipment; regularly walks or stands to perform radiopharmaceutical production, cyclotron and equipment maintenance.
Regularly performs fine finger/precision computer work; handling of open source radioactivity and radioactive equipment/components requiring steadiness and accurate movement/control.
Regularly works in confined/awkward spaces where reaching, bending and crouching are required to complete maintenance work
Time sensitive work in order to meet clinical and research demands. Sources of ionizing radiation and various chemicals..
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are a regular requirement, including gloves and gowns.Job Qualifications
Completion of a Master\'s Degree or PhD in Radiopharmacy, radiochemistry, organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, or other relevant discipline is required
Minimum of five years of experience within the last seven years working in a PER Radiopharmacy or Research Laboratory is required.
Experience in managing a SPR or PER Radiopharmacy lab would be an asset.
Experience with the use of radionuclides or experience in radiochemistry would be an asset.
Knowledge of Canada\'s regulatory framework relative to radiopharmaceuticals including radiation safety (CNSC) and GMP (HC).
Demonstrated advanced quality assurance skills related to PERs and SPRs.
Demonstrated ability to conduct independent and collaborative research including an established research record.
Demonstrated superior skills in working with the latest electronic and computer technology systems.
Demonstrated strong organizational skills.
Demonstrated progressive leadership skills.
