Radio Station General Manager, Northern Native Broadcasting Permanent, full-time position in Terrace, B.C. (Remote working will not be considered)As an accomplished professional, you welcome this opportunity to join Canada's First Nation Radio station and assume accountability for professional engagement with key stakeholders.Reporting to the Northern Native Broadcasting Board of Directors and is responsible for and oversees the day-to-day operations of the CFNR radio station located in Terrace, BC. The Station Manager will oversee, coordinate, and administer a range of operational and administrative activities in direct support of the station's delivery of 24-hour radio programming. Participates in developing and administering strategic and operating plans, including evaluating programs for compliance with the overall mission of the station.Strategically builds and maintains positive relations with business and community leaders within the CFNR service area, which includes involvement in community engagement activities.MAJOR POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES 1. Oversees and coordinates the radio station's continuous, multifaceted daily operations, ensuring compliance with broadcast standards, policies, and relevant federal and provincial laws and regulations.2. Maintains accurate schedules, records, discrepancy reports, and follow-through communications and ensures that all on-air broadcast programming complies with the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) rules and regulations.3. Participates in establishing, organizing, and implementing short and long-range goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates program effectiveness and effects changes required for improvement.4. Directs and administers the provision of day-to-day operation and supervision of all CFNR staff, including regular staff and management meetings.5. Oversees the discipline, hiring and firing of staff, training, and skills development, maintain organization chart, personnel files, updated job descriptions, and other personnel concerns as required.6. Support the station's various units, including the station supplies and inventory and station safety and security.7. Oversee the annual operating budget(s) preparation, monthly financial statements for internal use, ongoing review of accounts payable and receivable reports, and approval of expenditures.8. Address banking needs as required; implement financial controls where necessary; and other financial concerns as required.9. Ensure that financial policy and procedures are formulated and implemented sufficiently to ensure the economy, efficiency and effectiveness of the Society's expenditures, and all organization assets are safeguarded.10. Ensure all radio production and broadcast material is of the highest quality and within compliance.11. Ensure broadcast services within the CFNR listening area are functioning; keep up with current developments in the radio industry; ensure the continuity and upgrading of the CFNR website; be conscious of the competition; Encourage new promotional ideas from staff on an ongoing basis.12. Ensure all external reports are completed and remitted promptly; maintain periodic or as-needed communication with the Board of Directors.13. Reports to and works well with the NNB Board of Directors and understands the flow of accountabilities and transparency.14. Coordinate and schedule regular Board meetings and ensure the Board package is made available to the Board members at least five business days before the Board meeting.15. Ensure Northern Native Broadcasting (T) remains in compliance with regulatory, Federal, and Provincial authorities, including but not limited to Canada Labour Code, Income Tax Act, CRTC and Industry Canada regulations, and BC Societies Act.16. Be the primary contact with all major stakeholders, such as CRTC, legal auditing firm, Canadian Heritage, lending institutions and the NNB Board of Directors.JOB SPECIFICATIONS- Formal Education A post-secondary diploma or degree in Business Administration and CommunicationsOther Requirements
